I visited the dental office where my sister works and I saw this guy working there--a computer tech person. His name was Tom and he looked familiar. Then I asked my sister what his last name was and she told me.  It immediately occurred to me then that he was a friend of mine from fifth grade.

I asked him if he remembered me in the school that we both went to in the year 1995-1996. I also mentioned our teacher's name.
He looked at me if I were crazy. I was kind of sad (well, "sad" is a strong word, but you get my point) that him and I were great friends and he had no clue who I was. I always told him that he has a sister--I think that totally creeped him out.

During fifth grade, I remember talking about Mortal Kombat (the movie) and then about the video game that I never played, but heard of so much both from Tom and the other guy friends. (I didn't tell him that I still know how to draw one of the characters we drew during free time in class). We loved computers, too.

Anyway, looking at myself now and knowing what my childhood friend does now along with our other friends--we're all in the computer field. Were we geeks since childhood?

I am a nerd.  I always wanted to be into computer since I had my first DOS-based computer, and I still use computer now.  That said, I have forgotten a lot of my childhood friends because time and distance have faded those part of my life.

Do I want those back?  Not really.  Sure, a memory may float up to the surface, and it may be a moment that brings a smile (or a cringe), but they are just that, a moment.  The ones that sticks with you through thick and thin, they are the ones worth keeping.
